Job Summary and Mission
This position contributes to Starbucks success at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) by seamlessly blending legendary customer service with critical airport-specific operational support. As both a Barista and a Support Runner, this partner creates the Starbucks Experience by crafting quality beverages and connecting with customers, while also mastering the secure logistics chain required within the airport. This role is essential for navigating U.S. Customs and security protocols to receive, screen, and transport all supplies from the loading dock to the store, ensuring uninterrupted operations in this unique environment.
Summary of Key Responsibilities

Acts as a Brand Ambassador: Conducts oneself with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture, values, and mission of Starbucks, representing the brand within a high-security international airport. Communicate information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create the Third Place environment during each shift.

Maintains Composure & Compliance: Keeps a calm, professional demeanor during high-volume periods and strictly adheres to all LPIA, U.S. Customs, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations during logistics operations.

Anticipates Needs: Proactively evaluates customer and store needs, anticipating supply needs, bottlenecks and accounting for potential delays in the security screening process.

Fosters Team Environment & Customer Support: Contributes to a positive and supportive team environment through clear communication, assisting in training new partners on procedures, and proactively recognizing changes in team morale or performance to ensure a seamless and effective customer service operation.

Delivers Legendary Service: Connects with a global customer base, discovers and responds to their needs by acting with a customer comes first attitude and consistently provides quality beverages and food products.

Upholds Safety & Security Standards: Follows all Starbucks and LPIA security protocols for cargo handling, screening, and transport. Maintains meticulous documentation for customs and security checks. Follows Starbucks operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.

Maintains Operational Readiness: Keeps all workspaces including back-of-house and storage areas organized and compliant with airport and brand health and safety regulations so that partners can locate resources and products as needed.

Executes Airport Logistics Duties:
o
Manages the end-to-end supply process: meets deliveries at the secured loading dock, prepares shipments for U.S. Customs review, and loads products in screening machinery as required.

Safely transports all screened products (including lifting items 50+ lbs) from the central screening area to the store storage, utilizing authorized airport pathways and equipment (e.g., cargo carts).
o
Manages inventory with precision, applying strict FIFO (First-In, First-Out) rotation in storage areas.
o
Supports the store manager with inventory counts and audits, ensuring records satisfy airport security compliance.
o
Performs opening/closing duties related to inventory reception and secure storage.
Summary of Experience

No previous experience required; experience in warehouse, logistics, airport operations, or with security screening procedures is a significant plus.
Basic Qualifications Basic qualifications for this role are:

Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation. Punctuality is critical for coordinating with delivery and security schedules.

Available to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, nights, and/or holidays.

Able to meet all store operating policies and standards, as well as all LPIA and U.S. Customs security protocols.

Possesses a genuine passion for customer service and clear, pleasant communication with an international traveler base.

Able to prepare food and beverages to standard and customized orders.

Must be able to obtain and maintain any necessary airport security clearance or ID badge as required by LPIA authorities.

Able and willing to perform a wide variety of tasks, switching between customer-focused barista duties and physically demanding logistics tasks during a single shift.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to learn and follow complex oral/written instructions, including security and customs procedures.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and communicate professionally with airport personnel (e.g., customs officers, security staff).

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, crucial for maintaining compliance and inventory accuracy.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical ability to safely and repeatedly lift 50+ lbs, push/pull loaded cargo carts, and navigate airport corridors and service elevators.
