JOB TITLE: Custodian

DIRECT REPORT: Store Manager/Division Leader

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that municipal buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following, but not limited to:

Cleans and cares for buildings and facilities in order to ensure they are maintained in a safe and healthy manner
Main Activities:

• Clean offices, meeting chambers and recreational facilities.
• Mops tile and concrete floor areas.
• Vacuums all carpeted areas.
• Dusts all furniture and fixtures as required.
• Washes and disinfects all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers and fixtures.
• Cleans all mirrors.
• Replenishes toilet tissue and soap as needed.
• Empties all waste baskets and garbage cans.
• Places garbage in outside storage bin.
• Cleans entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware.
• Keeps outside area near exit and entrance clear of cans, paper, etc.
• Washes all finger marks from walls, doors, hardware and glass.
• Performs and/or reports minor maintenance repairs.
• Cleans kitchen sinks and counters.
• Reports damages and acts of vandalism.
• Washes entrance and exit floors.
• Spot cleans walls and toilet partitions.

• Secures storage areas.
• Ensures cleaning materials and supplies are stored in a safe and orderly manner.
• Maintains an adequate supply of cleaning materials and supplies.
• Restocks materials and supplies.
• Makes note of the need for equipment repairs.
• Adheres to the John Bull Corporate Values.

• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment.
• Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System.
• Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of cleaning chemicals and products.
• Ability to work under little supervision.
